About MA

Welcome to my kitchen.

My name is Mary Ann Stewart. My passions are my family, my friends and food. Any occasion where I can combine the three and feed people brings me great joy.

I cook at home and love being in my kitchen. After forty plus years of cooking I still get excited about it almost everyday. It’s no problem to stay motivated. With so many great cooks from all over the world sharing their skills in print, on TV and online, inspiration is endless. I love perfecting what I already know about cooking and trying new recipes, techniques, appliances and gadgets.

Through my blog, you will get to know me better and I hope to get to know you, too. For starters, I have a great husband whose cooking skills are underdeveloped probably because I love to do the cooking. We have two wonderful daughters, each good cooks in their own right, and two fantastic son-in-laws who never complain about anything I serve them. I am also a nana – a role I have loved since my grandson came into the world (and even a bit before that).

My feet are firmly planted on both sides of the line between healthy and not-so-healthy food. I cook almost everything from scratch. I try to get the best ingredients I can and would love to say that everything I cook is locally grown, organic and 100% good for me. My truth is I shop at chain grocery stores for most groceries. I buy seasonal fruit and vegetables from market gardeners and graciously accept whatever garden surplus friends and neighbours offer. I like going to specialty food stores, bulk food stores and health food stores whenever I can.

I have an ever-growing list of things I want to share with you and welcome any suggestions for what you’d like see here. Let’s get started.

Mary Ann

    1. Thanks, Ed. I would love if you would share this with Jean and hope that she enjoys trying one of the recipes. PS I like my KD with a can of tuna.
